Alafara, Kolobo, Alaja community beg Oyo govt for good roads

Published by Tribune on Thu, 05 Jul 2012

FOR people living at Ologuneru community in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, this rainy season seems not to be a good time for them as many of the roads in the area, as well as roads in nearby communities have become impassable. The residents said that they were not enjoying the wet season and those who own vehicles are praying that the wet season should end soon so that they can enjoy driving. For instance, people living in communities like Alaja and Kolobo told Community News that there was the need for the authorities of Ido Local Government Area to focus its road rehabilitation attention on their communities, stressing that they too wanted to feel the positive impact of Professor Adeniyi Olowofela's administration in the council.Mr Seun Ale, a resident of Alaja community which is one of the communities in Ologuneru, explained that the road in Alaja was very bad and the recent downpour had made it worse.According to Mr Ale, 'every effort to convince the authorities of Ido Local Government Area to repair the road has met with brick wall as the authority kept promising to look into the issue,' he stated.Another resident of Alaja community, Mr Sesan Adeleye said, 'we are begging the local government to help us so that we can also enjoy dividends of democracy. Our roads are bad and becoming impassable, thus disconnecting us from other communities both in Ido and Ibadan metropolis,' he pleaded.Residents of Kolobo and Adejumo communities, both in Ido Local Government also appealed to the state government to help fix the roads in their areas so that they could be able to say thank you to the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.Inhabitants of Alafara, Adetokun have also begged the state government to help rehabilitate bad roads in the areas, stressing that doing this would go a long way in easing the traffic problem in the areas.
