DID you listen to Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba's contribution on the floor of the Senate as it considered the report on the pension scam probe recently' The Senate Leader who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, virtually transmuted into a preacher when he said that the blood of old retirees denied pensions would be upon the depraved thieves, upon their children and their children's children.Persons saddled with responsibility for keeping these monies have been stealing from it. Hundreds of billions, hundreds of houses and other properties have since been recovered from some of these heartless bandits according to the pension task force chairman. And you won't believe it; billions (in cash) were also recovered from the houses of some of them. Public servants indeed!Corruption has been the bane of Nigeria's desire to join the developed and prosperous nations of the world. Every sector exudes mismanagement, greed, and inordinate desire by people entrusted with the common wealth and positions of responsibility. According to a former head of an anti-corruption agency, about $10b is being siphoned into foreign accounts every year by these politicians and so-called public servants. And sadly nothing, absolutely nothing, is done to recover stolen funds or at least, check these thieves. The activities of these corrupt office holders have brought untold hardship to citizens of this blessed country. Today, we don't have good roads. There are no goods schools for our children, no jobs for our youths, no good health facilities, no electricity supply. There is also the issue of insecurity. Nigeria is like a nation in a protracted civil war. Its citizens have to provide their own water, power, security, private education and health care. In fact, it is now the norm to see sick people every hour soliciting funds on television to facilitate overseas travels for medical treatment, especially to places like India and Germany. I learnt these countries take direct taxes from every such health transaction to develop their infrastructure. The nation has been shocked with incredible stories of unholy deals with the fuel subsidy funds, aviation bailout funds, police funds, and the disappearance of over N300b earmarked for the rehabilitation of roads, ecology funds, education funds, etc. Don't even talk about the criminal misuse of so-called security votes. I am very sure that there will be an instant revolution if Nigerians find out what some of these funds are used for by this thieving cabal. How much do they make from each of all these inflated contracts'Who gets these 'privatised' and 'monetised' government companies and properties' They allocate, sell, privatise and monetise to themselves and their cronies. True! Corruption has indeed made our country a laughing stock among the comity of nations. Even the devil will be so-shocked on how depraved our public officials and their collaborators have become. This is a nation so blessed with natural and human resources. In fact, the sixth largest oil-producing nation in the entire world! What a sad commentary!I totally agree with Senator Ndoma-Egba that people involved in this scam have blood money on their hands and have also brought generational curses upon themselves, their children and children's children. And not just the pension thieves, but also all those who stole, are stealing, or will steal, by any means or guise, the resources meant to develop or take care of the citizens of this country. As a president, minister, governor, chairman, civil servant or whatever, if you are corruptly taking public funds, you are simply a thief. You should be addressed as His Excellency The Thief, Distinguished Thief or Honourable Thief. The Bible says in Zechariah 5:4, 'And this is what the LORD Almighty says: I am sending this curse into the house of every thief and into the house of everyone who swears falsely by my name. And my curse will remain in that house until it is completely destroyed' even its timbers and stones.' This is terrible! The worst is hell. The choice is yours. You can stop those corrupt activities and return all you have stolen today. Yes, you can. After all, what would it profit you to gain all the temporal, ephemeral wealth, glory and pleasures in this world and spend eternity suffering, wailing and gnashing your teeth endlessly in a worm and demon-infested lake of fire'Rev.
