Vessels Unto Honour (II)Memory Verse: 'Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.' (Matthew 15:11)Bible Passage: (Luke 17: 1-4)IntroductionSIN is the fatal weapon of every defiling agent. God hates sin but loves the sinner (Rom. 5:8). Sin will always render a vessel unusable by God. The sinner, other people and God will be affected by the defilement of a vessel.Victims Of Sin: The soul that sinneth shall die (Ezek. 18:4). Slow death of potential, health, wealth and wellbeing is the immediate fallout of defilement. It is not just physical death but eternal separation from God in hell. Other human victims include family and friends of sinners; the person lied against; the object of a vicious rumour or gossip; the owner of a stolen item; the spouse of an adulterer; and the survivors of a murdered person. The sinner has to restitute after he has obtained forgiveness. When a child of God is defiled, he causes God deep pain, nailing Christ to the cross a second time (Heb 6:6). When this happens it is futile to expect grace to abound (Rom. 6:1). God is always seeking vessels unto honour to commission into destinies (Isa. 6:1-8).Sins Of Omission: Sins of omission can be easily missed but are just as dangerous (James 4:17). These include failure to have compassion or to help fellow humans when you can (Mt. 25:31-46; Pr. 21:13; Mt. 18:6-7) and failure to fellowship with man and worship God (Lk. 15:25-32; Mt. 5:43-48; Lk. 18:9-14) It is a serious sin of omission to cause another person to sin or stumble, especially a child or other vulnerable person (Lk. 17:1-3) Faithlessness is sin (Rom. 14:3).ConclusionAvoid all forms of defilement. If we come into contact with a defiling agent, we can cleanse ourselves with the most powerful cleansing agent' the blood of Jesus, for it cleanses from all sin (1Jn. 1:7).Remain undefiled.
