Rotary intensifies anti-polio war

AFTER 25 years of hardwork and with countries like Nigeria still recording occasional cases of polio, Rotary International is intensifying its advocacy in communities, particularly in the northern part of the country, to embrace the oralpolio vaccines.In addition to its recentmeetings with traditional rulers across the country, Rotary at the weekend took its message of polio-free Nigeria to some communities in Abuja, where it solicited further support from the people.As the team moved around Gwarinpa, an estate, the message from the team was clear: 'As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk.'President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, Gwarinpa, Mr. Jeremiah Haruna, who led members of the club to various homes and streets of Gwarinpa, emphasised the need for parents to allow their children to be vaccinated against polio.
