Unveiling GLO's Dream Team Reality Show

Leading telecommunication company, Globacom last week demonstrated its commitment to sports development in West Africa as it unveils the Glo Soccer Academy; a TV Reality show tagged The Dream Team in Lagos.At a press conference held to formally launch the project, Globacom's Director of Events and Sponsorships, Bode Opeseitan said the Glo Soccer Academy was conceived to discover and train talented young footballers in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic.He said the company is "proud to float the Glo Soccer Academy which is expected to discover young talent, teach and groom them to become world-class footballers who can compete with their contemporaries anywhere in the world and shine like trillion stars.'INTRODUCTION: Glo Soccer Academy is a TV Reality show organised by Globacom to hunt and train talented young footballers thereby building strong affinity with the youth and increasing our share in the youth segment market. The best 16 talented young Nigerians, Ghanaians and Beninese who emerge as winners will proceed on training tour to Manchester United Soccer Schools on training tour.OBJECTIVE: The concept of the Glo Soccer Academy is conceived to provide a once-in- a lifetime opportunity for young talented footballers to kick start their career in professional football and also to offer subscribers the opportunity to participate in selection and elimination process.MECHANICS: We will run nationwide campaigns and call for entries, seeking for young talents to enter and compete in the Glo Soccer Academy (for males from 14- 17 years ). Participants will be recruited via sms. All entries will be collated in line with the approved locations for screening across the 3 countries. At the screening, 33 kids will be selected for a one-month stint in the academy. The entire process will be recorded and produced in a reality TV show style. It will be aired over a 13-week period for viewer entertainment. Eviction process will be via sms voting (40%) and the rating by the coaches (60%). DURATION: Four months.ADVANTAGES: To preserve the future of football where products of the academy will fill in the space.To guarantee education for the players so that they will be able to meet future challenges outside football.To guarantee an atmosphere where talents will be adequately harnessed to maximise business advantage of football in an organised system that that the academy provides.
