Declaration of Caliphate, affront on Nigeria 'Tsav 'Boko Haram caliphate, a mirage 'MURIC

FORMER Commissioner of Police and socio crusader, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has described as affront on Nigeria, the declaration of Gwaza, in the North-East as a caliphate by the dreaded Boko Haram sect.In a statement issued on Monday, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, Tsav, who recently was appointed member of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP), declared that President Goodluck Jonathan had failed the nation and asked him to be honourable and resign immediately.Tsav, who regretted that the country at present had a leader, who had no interest of the nation at heart, described the declaration by the sect as affront against the Federal Government and blamed the president for paying lipservice to security situation in the country.According to him, 'the declaration was occasioned by lack of interest in the Jonathan-led administration to crush this life-consuming insurgency, rather than muster troops to uproot this menace, Jonathan is more interested in deploying troops to rig elections, to aid and abet impeachment of opposition governors and commission of mass murder, as recently witnessed in Zaria, where 35 innocent people were callously murdered in cold blood.'While alleging that the Federal Government had not shown commitment to the rescuing of the abducted Chibok girls, who had been in captivity for 133 days now, the Tiv-born retired police boss, said Jonathan-led administration was fond of 'leaving the substance and chasing the shadow.'Tsav also took a swipe at the leader of Northern elders, Alhaji Tanko Yakasi, for not advising the president on the way forward to restore sanity to Nigeria.'The truth is that Jonathan has failed and should throw in the towel; enough is enough,' Tsav said.Meanwhile, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described as mere illusion, a declaration of Gwoza, in Borno State, as Boko Haram caliphate.Gwoza is a part of Borno State overrun by the insurgents a few days ago.In a statement, MURIC's director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said from the latest statement of its leader, Abubakar Shekau, it was clear that Boko Haram was emulating the Islamic State in Iraq (ISIS), which declared a phantom caliphate a few months ago.The group said the caliphate declared by both ISIS and Boko Haram were invalid, because they did not follow the model of that of Prophet Muhammad, in Medina, which, it said, was established on justice, love and peaceful coexistence.It called on President Goodluck Jonathan and the armed forces to liberate Gwoza and other villages in Borno State from the occupation of Boko Haram.'Boko Haram's declaration is a statement of secession. It must not be allowed. Gwoza must be liberated within days. Boko Haram or no Boko Haram, we cannot compromise the territorial integrity of Nigeria to anyone, no matter how barbaric,' MURIC said.
