How to subscribe to a Google Calendar or share your calendar with someone, so you can see each other's schedules

You can subscribe to someone else's Google Calendar by searching for their email address within the app.When you subscribe to a Google Calendar, all of its events will appear on your own calendar.You can also let other people subscribe to a Google Calendar you've created.Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.One of the benefits of a Google Calendar is instant, immediate updates for everyone who can access it. And by comparing multiple calendars, you can more easily make commitments and plan your schedule.Before you do this, however, you'll need to know how to subscribe to someone else's calendar.When you subscribe to someone else's Google Calendar, your own calendar will start showing all of their public events and appointments. By default, others can subscribe to your calendar too.Here's how to subscribe to someone's Google Calendar from your Mac or PC.Check out the products mentioned in this article:MacBook Pro (From $1,299.99 at Best Buy)Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (From $699.99 at Best Buy)How to subscribe to a Google Calendar1. Open your Google Calendar in your browser and log in if you haven't already.2. At the bottom-left, there should be a section titled "Other calendars." Click the plus symbol (+) next to this title.3. Select "Subscribe to calendar" from the pop-up menu.4. You'll be brought to a new screen that's entirely blank except for a search bar labeled "Add calendar." Click this search bar and enter someone's email address into the field, and then hit the "Enter" or "Return" key on your keyboard.You can also click the person's name if they appear in the search results as you're typing.If you instead have a URL for a shared calendar, skip to step six.5. This may open a pop-up telling you that you don't have access to that person's calendar. Add a message to your request, and then click "Request access." You'll now need to wait for that person to accept the request.Some people have their account set to allow anyone to subscribe. In this case, their calendar will be immediately added to yours, and you'll be brought to a page where you can edit the settings of that calendar.If you're trying to subscribe to someone who doesn't have a Google Calendar, you can still send them a request, but the email they receive will instead prompt them to make a Google account.6. If you've been given the URL of a shared calendar, instead select "From URL" on the toolbar to the left, and enter it into the text field of this menu.You can also share calendars that you've created. People can subscribe to your calendar in the exact same way that you did above, or you can send them a direct link to it.To find that link:1. Go back to the Google Calendar homepage.2. On the left side of the page, there's a list of all your calendars. Find the one you want to share and roll your mouse over it, and then click the three stacked dots that appear.3. In the pop-up menu, click "Settings and sharing."4. This will bring you to your calendar's settings page. Scroll down to the section labeled "Access permissions" and click "Get shareable link."5. This will open a pop-up with a link in it.
