Minimum wage: Kano'll not retrench workers to pay N18,000

THE Kano State government has saidthat there is no plan to retrench its workforce in order to implement N18,00 minimum wage.Disclosing this on Thursday in Kano while addressing newsmen, the state Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Umar Shehu Minjibir, said the state government would comply with the Federal Government's directive on national minimum wage based on its capacity.He said, 'there is no iota of truth in the allegation that the Musa Kwankwaso-led administration will downsize its workforce in order to pay the minimum wage.'According to him, the present government in the state is workers friendly and will not embarked on any programme that would worsen the economic plight of the masses in the state.
