NIGCOMSAT to deliberate on marketing strategy for replaced satellite

Stakeholders in telecommunications would soon be assembled by the Nigeria Communications Satellite Company, (NigComSat) to deliberate on strategies for the effective marketing of the replaced satellite, NigComSat 1R in a three day conference.The event, which is expected to feature a series of road-shows and interactive sessions with the stakeholders in Lagos, is slated forNovember 21, 22 and 23 ahead of the launch in December. The pre-launch marketing and sensitisation conference would enable officials of the company interact and explain to participants what to expect from the satellite that has been moved to its launch siteExpected to feature major industry players including telecommunications, broadcast and Internet regulators among others, the three-day industry specific forum would address salient issues about the new satellite, features and what it would offer telecommunications, broadcast, internet and other ancillary stakeholders across a broad spectrum of the economy.According to the team leader of the conference committee, Mr.BalaMohammed who spoke on behalf of the Executive Director, Marketing, Mr. Abimbola Alale, the conference 'is certainly a dress rehearsal of things to come'.While explaining the rational for the conference, he said that an earlier conference was held in Abuja stating that 'we opted to take this edition to Lagos because it's the hub of the economy and most of the key players in telecommunications, broadcast media and internet service providers (ISPs) have their corporate headquarters in Lagos. We are taking the events to their door steps'. Bala who is also Deputy General Manager (DGM) Administration at NIGCOMSAT, also said that the armed forces, the police, maritime and aviation industry practitioners would feature in the conference.The conference, which will address 'knowledge innovation and space race', design features and the cutting edge payload, Network solutions, maritime, aviation and broadcast will be flagged off by the Communications Technology Minister, Mrs. Omobola Johnson with NIGCOMSAT Managing Director and Chief Executive, Engr. T. Ahmed-Rufai as the host.
