CAN, Sultan task leaders

The Christian Association of Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, the WellBeing Foundation and the Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists have urged leaders in the country to manifest the teachings of sacrifice and love for their fellow countrymen.In an Eid-el-Kabir message, the President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, also called on Islamic leaders to re-orientate the minds of their followers through the preaching of tolerance and the fear of God. He also urged members of the Boko Haram sect to embrace permanent peace.He said, "Violence ultimately does not help any situation, instead it aggravates it."The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sad Abubakar III, in his own message urged politicians in the country to play by the rules.He said, "Politicians should respect the laws of the country during their campaigns and during the actual polls."The Founder of WBF, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, who celebrated the Eid-el-Kabir with her family in Ilorin, Kwara State said dedication and sacrifice were needed to move aspirations of the people to their total peace.She said, "We have a unique, God-given opportunity to really make a difference in peoples lives, so we should use this period to reflect on how we can lend a helping hand." The Chairman Lagos Chapter of NUJ, Deji Elumoye; and Secretary, Sylva Emeka-Okereke, in the unions Sallah message urged peaceful co-existence and unity among the citizenry.
