Published by Tribune on Wed, 09 Nov 2011

Residents of Ota in Ado-Odo Local Government of Ogun state have called on the Ogun State government to upgrade the Ilo-Awela-Toll gate road to dual carriageway to ease the traffic jam in the area.Motorists and residents lamented that the only way to solve the problem of traffic congestion on the road was for the state government to dualise the road.'Traffic on the road is always heavy. It serves as alternative route to motorists going to Idi-Iroko, Seme, Badagry, among others.People trying to avoid traffic snarl at Sango Ota always prefer passing through the road, hence it usually witnessed heavy traffic,' Bayo Akinole, a resident of the area told Community News. Also, Community News learnt that because of the importance of the road to its members, the authorities of the Winners Church had on several occasions undertook the repair of the roads.'Winners Church have repaired the road on many occasions and that is even why people are still plying it. The traffic on this road on Sunday or whenever the church runs a programme is always heavy and that was why the authorities of the church felt they should be touching it once in a while. They have done it on many occasions,' he said.Community News learnt that the road fell under the portfolio of the local government. 'It is a local government road, but the local government cannot handle the dualisation, hence we are calling on the state government to do it. It will serve a lot of people. It will also ease the traffic problem in Sango area.
