Taraba governors wife gets award for empowering youths

By Fanen IhyongoWife of the Taraba State governor,Mrs Anna Darius Ishaku, has won the heart of the youth in the state for her numeroustraining and empowerment programmes that are impacting positively on their lives.She bagged her latest award from theAssociation of Jalingo Trainees (AJT), whose members said they have become independent and successful business people courtesy of Mrs Anna Ishaku.A statement by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governors wife,Mrs Mercy Gbashi, said the First Lady accepted the AJT award with gratitude, even though she does not accept awards any how from everyone or group.The AJT award followed atwo-day sensitisation workshop organised by Hope Afresh Foundation (HAF)a philanthropic organisation owned by the governors wife.During the workshop, the youth were trained on security and etiquettes.Read Also;Sanwo-Olus wife moves against rape, othersMrs. Hannatu Hammananutritionist and dietician, was among the resource persons who trained the youth on etiquettes.In her paper presentation, Hamman noted that obesity is a leading factor for diabetes and can be averted through regular exercise, eating of fruits, dietary modification, cessation from alcohol and cigarettes among other etiquettes.Too much intake of salt is dangerous to health, especially for adults who are aged above thirty years,Hamman added.Mrs Ishaku, a lawyer, told the trainees they will succeed without necessarily depending on anybody.The vocational skills you have acquired are a value of being independent and enterprising, she said, while hosting another group of successful Taraba trainees who were trained in fashion and design, cosmetics, makeup and gele, baking and catering and welding.Mrs Ishaku applauded her foundation partners who have been key in the success story of the trainees, including Mrs. Elizabeth Wachap (Provost, College of Agriculture) Jalingo and the Taraba State Government through the Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation.Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Yusuf Tanimu, lauded the governors wife for organising the workshop, describing as timely.
