Nigerian Premier League Dolphins will be rewarded

Published by Tribune on Tue, 22 Nov 2011

CONTRARY to speculation that 2011 Nigeria premier league champions, Dolphins football club of Port Harcourt will not be rewarded, the Nigeria premier league board has debunked this insinuation.Tribunesports can authoritatively report that NPL chairman, Rumson Victor Baribote in a telephone chat yesterday said that the league champions would be adequately rewarded but have to be delayed a little bit.According to him the league was without any sponsor and it affected the league, saying that the board has deployed plans to reward the league winner since 'it was agreed by the NPL at the beginning of the season that the league winners will get cash awards. So it is our responsibility to redeem the pledge,' he said.Speaking further, the Bayelsa United Chairman disclosed that the NPL board would meet at a later day this week where the issue would be discussed and solution profered.'We are meeting this week to discuss the issue, but I can assure the clubs that they will be adequately rewarded because we have to redeem our promise to the league champion,' Baribote said.He continued, 'mind you some clubs in the past were not rewarded by the past administration for winning the league titles but we are not going to do such because, it is not good for the league and moreso for the players who put in so much, so we are committed to rewarding the league champions and this we shall carry out to the letter.
