Bafarawa's men dump ACN 'As Sokoto ACN chair, 23 LG chairmen resign

CHAIRMAN of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Sokoto State chapter, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, has announced the resignation of the entire members of the executive of the state chapter of the party and all the 23 local government chairmen of the party in the state.In a letter jointly signed by the state chairman, Alhaji Milgoma, and the secretary, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad, which was addressed to the national headquarters of the party, Abuja and copies sent to journalists in Sokoto State, Alhaji Milgoma said their resignation from the party followed the resignation of their political leader and party financier in the state, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa.They accused the leadership of the party at the national level of nonchalant attitude, abandoning their cause and negligence toward their efforts at building the party during and after the last elections.'The party at state level, especially in the northern part of the country, was abandoned completely by the so-called leadership hierarchy of the party in order to show that we are nothing and nobody at the national headquarters is with us,' according to the statement.Alhaji Milgoma said the party leadership in Sokoto State was a united body, supportive of former Governor Bafarawa and would give their loyalty to him anytime, anywhere. They faulted the query given to him as a personal issue between him and a certain group in the national headquarters, which was bent on frustrating his genuine efforts of reviving the party to the national cause.'We also wish to re-iterate that we concur with the reasons adduced by our political leader, that the ACN, despite genuine efforts by well-meaning members to transform it into a national party, has remained, to the chagrin of most of us, a regional party acting out a sectional agenda,' Milgoma said.He said that they would follow Bafarawa to any political party he chooses to join and would continue to stand behind him for the development and the unity of the state and nation in general.They also pledged their loyalty and support to the former governor's quest of finding genuine, national and responsive political platform that was ready to articulate and act upon the yearnings and aspirations of millions of Nigerian masses.
