Olorunsogo LG intensifies campaign against crime

IN an attempt to kick-start the development of the local goverment area, the caretaker committee chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government of Oyo State, Comrade Oyebisi Raheem Ajibola, has donated two patrol vans, raincoats, boots, flashlight and sweater to the council's vigilance group.During the official launch of the vehicles and other items, the chairman maintained that it was very important to encourage the vigilance group because of its tireless efforts to make the area crime-free. 'In the rain, when it is sunny, during the cold, they are always there. That is why we need to make their work less stressful,' he added.The chairman noted that security was everybody's business, and urged the people to assist the security officers in the community by providing useful information for them. He assured the people that his administration would provide all round development by touching every part of the community.Also launched on the occasion were two lawn-mowers which the chairman provided for the use of primary schools. Commenting on the mowers, the chairman noted that most primary school pupils were too young to cut grasses. 'In line with Senator Abiola Ajimobi's policy of clean environment, these pupils must be assisted to maintain clean and decent environment,' he added.Speaking at the event, the Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Emmanuel Oyebisi Oyekan, Afasegbojo III, commended the chairman for touching the lives of the people. 'This is the first time a chairman is making efforts to protect our people. Apart from the patrol vans and other items for the vigilante group, the chairman has donated motorbikes to the CIB, civil defence corps, immigration and National Population Commission. I can only encourage him to continue the good job,' he stated.In his closing remarks, the leader of the vigilante group, Mr. Ajani Odenibi, gave kudos to the chairman for the feat, while pledging on behalf of his colleagues that they will be more committed to their work. 'The chairman has challenged us by providing two new patrol vans and other materials to make our job easier. For the first time, we have a chairman who is treating us with great respect,' he said
