Omu residents celebrate 23rd Omu-Eleni day

Sons and daughters of Omu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State recently, trooped out to celebrate the 23rd edition of Omu-Eleni Day.The celebration had in attendance the who-is-who in the state, including the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa, who represented the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Suraj Adekunbi; former Speaker, Honourable Tunji Egbetokun; and former and present members of the House of Assembly.Addressing the gathering, the National President, Omu Ajose Community Development Council (OACDC), Mr Adekunle Ogunbosin, urged residents of the state to fully support the efforts of the government in the area of provision of infrastructural amenities.Ogunbosin noted that the annual event had brought tremendous development to the town, charging all sons and daughters both at home and in the Diaspora to play their part in the developmental process of the town, saying,"whatever we do now is our own part that we need to play, it is a stage, today is our own time, we must play it well so that posterity will never forget us."We are not celebrating the day for the sake of fun alone. This year would be the 23rd anniversary and since the commencement of the day, the proceed from the celebration had been used to develop our town."We should not rely solely on government to do everything for us, we as people must also strive to complement the government efforts in the provisions of amenities to our areas."He further said that the target of the OACDC this year was the completion of the ultra modern palace that would benefit the status of the town and its people.The Chairman Planning Committee for this year celebration, Mr Tokunbo Sanni, corroborated the view of the National President.In his remarks, a member representing Odogbolu State Constituency in the Assembly, Hon. Remmy Hazzan, promised the determination of the Amosun-led government to re- construct the Ala- Omu road.He also allayed the fear that the Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu, will be relocated to another place.
