Falcons, Black Queens play 1-1 draw

THE dominance of Super Falcons of Nigeria in Africa Women football was again threatened on Sunday at the Abuja National Stadium when the Black Queens of Ghana forced them to a 1-1 draw in the qualifying rounds of the All Africa Games slated for Mozambique later in the year.The Nigerian girls were a shadow of themselves as they could not live up to expectations in the match.The African Champions who put every foot wrong in the match had to wait until the 72nd minute when Desire Oparanozie capitalised on a defensive blunder by the Ghanaians to score the curtain raiser. The visitors came up powerfully after the goal by taking over the midfield and pilling pressure on the Falcons defence which caved in ten minutes later.Speaking after the match, the chief coach of the Black Queens hailed the performance of her girls, saying that the Falcons should forget the All Africa Games in Mozambique.He addedthat the African Champions would not escape humiliation in Accra in a forth night. Meanwhile, a handful of Nigerian fans who thronged the stadium to support the Falcons expressed their displeasure at the teamsperformance.
