A/Ibom govt restates commitment to infrastructural development

Akwa Ibompeople throngedIbom Lodge in Lagos in their hundreds recently to celebrate the 24th Anniversary of Akwa Ibom Day, just as the state government restated its commitment towards the infrastructural development of the state in the bid to improve the lives of the people.The Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, assured the people that his administration would not compromise on the transformational policy of the state.Chief Akpabio, who was represented by the Akwa Ibom Liaison Officer in Lagos, Mr Joseph Etem, said that more life-enhancing projects would be initiated and completed in the state, adding that his score card in the last four years was pointer to the social and economic direction the state was heading to.He noted that at 24, the state has made various achievements in diverse areas, enumerating few of the mile-stone achievements to include an international airport with MRO facilities, Independent Power Plant, dualised roads network across the state, free and compulsory education in both primary and secondary schools, pipe-jacking flood control system, as well as modern fly-over in Uyo, the state capital.Mr. Joseph Etem who gave an insight into the event, hinted that 'this solemn assembly is meant to offer prayers to God for His faithfulness to our nation and most especially to Akwa Ibom State' in commemoration of the 24th anniversary celebration of the state.In his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Mr Godfrey Bartepeh commended Governor Akpabio for the stride he has so far taken to reposition Akwa Ibom State, describing the level of infrastructural development in the state as laudable.Mr Bartepeh , a former Commissioner of Finance in the state during the military regime, noted that the occasion was the first of its kind in the history of the state, and thanked the governor for making it possible for Akwa Ibom people in Lagos to take part in the anniversary of the state.
