Let's develop small scale industries - Aganga

Minister of Trade and Investments, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, has noted that the Federal Government N10 billion loan with the Bank of Industry (BoI) is meant to developed the economy of Nigeria.Aganga, pointed out that if all the young graduates in Nigeria plan and development the Small and Micro-medium businesses in Nigeria, our economy who change within the shortest possible time.The Minister made the disclosure in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State at the end of a two day Economic and Development Summit organized by Ekiti State Government to mark the first year anniversary of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in office. Aganga, who regretted that Nigeria had not make meaningful impact in the area of Agriculture in the face of over 80 million hectares of land that is available to Nigerian citizens for farming and the small scale businesses, noted that less than half of the areas is at present being utilized.The former minister of Finance assured Nigerians that President Goodluck Jonathan's administration is fully committed to the development of the real sector of the economy, adding that agriculture will play a leading role to strengthen the economy of the nation.He hinted that the Federal Government will soon stop the importation of rice into the country to encourage local production of rice in Nigeria, saying the plans is to encourage local farmers and graduates to take into rice cultivation.He further noted that, that is why the Federal Government is working with the Lagos Business School to train Nigerians on how to write bankable investments plans to have easy access to fund in the financial institutions.He disclosed that many Nigerians are still importing plumbers and other artisans from the neighbouring West African countries despite the availability of experts in such areas in the country.According to him, the Federal Government would soon establish a Trade and Investment Council with Australia to establish bilateral relationship in the area of Oil and Gas.'We are not going to give money to Nigerians just for skills' acquisition , but we will teach them how to work hard and raise a bankable investment that can propel the Small and Micro 'medium enterprises .Earlier, the governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, assured that intending investors in Ekiti would be given about 5 to 10 years tax break as a way of attracting them into the state.He promised all willingly investors to come and develop the state, saying the time is now, adding that the condition is favourable.
