Residents complain of poor roads in Osogbo

Residents ofOsogbo, OsunState, have appealed to the state government to repair major roads in the state capital, saying the condition of the roads is appalling.Some of the roads whose condition is bad are: Odi Olowo, Olaiya which are major roads that lead to the government secretariat. The condition of the roads was so bad that it hindered free movement of vehicles and was creating traffic congestion all the times.According to a resident, Mr Tunde Ajisafe, 'it is a disgrace that such roads are in the state capital,' and wondered that if roads in the state capital did not receive attention what would be the fate of roads in other places.Another resident, Mrs Kemi Oni, stated that even if the state government could not repair the roads immediately, there should be palliative measure to relieve the motorists the burden they go through on the roads.She said there was a disconnection between the government and the governed, arguing that residents did not need to cry out before such roads were repaired.Speaking on the state of the roads in the state and why they have not been repaired , the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola had stated at a meeting with journalists, that one of the reasons he has not embarked on road rehabilitation was because of the rain, adding that any repair carried out on the roads now would amount to waste of money becausethe bitumen would not stay.
