Wake up Arik

Published by Punch on Fri, 18 Nov 2011

Fred Agbaje Esq., Pedro Road, Shomolu, Lagos. If one airline is in the habit of taking her customers for a ride, its Arik. Having confirmed my ticket (business class) to and fro London last summer, I went to the UK. On my return on September 1, 2011, the airline abandoned us (over 200 passengers) at the Heathrow Airport from 5pm (boarding time) till 12 midnight before a young man came to inform us (the frustrated passengers) that the airline was not flying that night and that we have to be lodged at the Park Inn Hotel London for the night. Invariably, on September 2, we were parked like sandine into a very small aircraft (fit only for local travels) to Lagos. I want the Arik management to refute my story, then it would see worse revelations about its shoddy and poor management mentality. This inconvenience to over 200 passengers by Arik has yet to be redressed by the airline till date. If Arik has made any redress, I was never told. Only this morning November 15, 2011 my cousin boarded the same airline for London at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, having spent about four hours on board, (with air-conditioner not functioning), they were told that the aircraft would not fly because of engine problem!!! When will FAAN, NAMA and NCAA wake up from their slumber to protect air travellers from unscrupulous airlines like Arik in this country' And from tokunbo (Aloku) aircraft users that are presently dominating our air space
