Osun: Meeting to resolve hijab issue deadlocked

A meeting convened by community and religious leaders in Iwo town in Osun State to resolve the crisis over the usage of hijab in public schools ended in a stalemate.The meeting, held at the secretariat of Iwo Local Government Area, was attended by all stakeholders, but no compromise was reached over the matter, while another meeting had to be scheduled for today.Speaking on the development, a legal adviser to the community, Chief Ishola Tewogbade, said the issue was about enforcing the fundamental rights of the students.He said public schools owned by Christians should allow Muslim female students to use hijab, though not mandatory.
