Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency of Benue state, Hon. Adamu Entonu has decried the protracted conflict between sedentary farmers and gunmen suspected to be Herdsmen in Agatu local government area of the state alleging that residents are hacked in their numbers on a daily basis.Speaking, yesterday when he briefed members of the Press in Abuja on the heightened attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Agatu communities, Entonu lamented the slow response of the Benue State and federal governments to the plight of the people in spite of their outcry.As I speak to you here now, the people of Agatu are being hacked in their numbers by Fulani herdsmen and nobody cares to pay attention to the mayhem being done to my people.No form of assistance or empathy has has been shown to us in Agatu in spite of the outcry of our people as a result of the heavy economic injury inflicted on the people of Agatu by herdsmen, he said.He added that people of Agatu are living in fear due to the presence of heavily armed herdsmen whom were empowered to resettle in our community by the state government without being disarmed.The lawmaker stressed that the implication of the crisis, is the fear by farmers going to their farms to plant or harvest crops without being killed
