Osun govt gives N20m for community projects

OSUN State government hasshared N20 million to 11 communities in the state for the execution of various projects through the Community Development Projects.Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries on behalf of the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, the General Manager of Osun State Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP), Mrs Funmi Abokede, said that the money represented first tranche of money for the communities .The benefiting communities were given the cheques through the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), and they were; Okuku, Ilo-Ile, Adetunji, Otan-Ile, Oriire, Kotejemu, Aduramigba, Adetunji Temilalaafia and Ori-Oke Oloruntosin in Osogbo.Mrs Abokede explained that the projects the money were meant for , were those the affected the communities and the projects would complete the first batch of the state projects launched through the Osun CSDP.Governor Aregbesola, in his message at the event, reiterated the commitment of his administration to develop every nook and cranny of the state, just as he enjoined the benefiting communities to judiciously use the money to execute projects, that are acceptable to the people that will encourage government to do more.Speaking on behalf of the communities, Pastor E O Olaniyi expressed appreciation to the state government for the gesture and assistance rendered to the communities.Meanwhile, the state government has reinstated its commitment to support students' activities and promote functional education within the limited resources available to the state.Governor Aregbesola said this when receiving an award as the Best Performing Governor in 2012, giving to him by the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), Ibadan Polytechnic chapter.The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere, dedicated the award to the people of the state, just as the governor urged the students to always work towards peace and progress of the state.He commended them for their initiative in constructing Omoluabi Bus-Stop on their campus and enjoined them to continue to promote programmes of the state government.
