Kwara, FG partner to create 10,000 jobs for youths

Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has said that the state government will partner the Federal Government to provide an additional 10,000 jobs for youths in the state.The governor stated this in Ilorin while receiving the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu-Gambari, who paid him the traditional Sallah homage.Ahmed, who was represented by his deputy, Elder Peter Kisira, said the state government was making arrangements to create 2,000 jobs for youths before the end of the year.According to him, the government is committed to enhancing the standard of living of the people.He called on Muslims and Christians to pray for peace and unity in Nigeria, especially at this crucial stage of the nation's history.``Under the Small- and Medium-Scale Enterprise Scheme, more than 3, 000 small businesses have already benefited in the first phase of our N500 million micro credit intervention scheme.'Another set of entrepreneurs will be empowered while thousands of jobs will be created when the second tranche of the micro credit fund is disbursed before the end of the year.``The state government will overhaul five general hospitals in 2013, and rehabilitation works on the general hospitals in Share, Offa, Omu-aran, Ilorin and Kaima have been completed,'' he said.The governor, who promised to provide primary health care centres in every ward to promote health care delivery at the grass-roots level, appealed to Muslims and Christian not to relent in their prayers for peace and unity of the nation.Earlier, the emir advised the federal and state governments to use the country's natural resources to sustain democracy.The traditional ruler appealed to governments at all levels to address the security challenges facing the country.He urged the government to be alive to its responsibilities, and public office-holders to be efficient and responsive to the aspirations of the people.
